Random pics from last two weeks

Ahh, sandbox time. the boys love the sandbox.

So yesterday we were outside playing before afternoon nap. It was so beautiful....a nice fall day. Cool enough for pants but the sun warmed us up. I put a blanket down on the grass and Ryan ran inside and brought out us pillows. The three of us laid under our big tree and just looked up at the clear blue sky. My "ahhh" moment. So thankful for my two wonderful boys....for our health...

....for our wonderful home. And while this house is way too small for us, it's the only house that our boys know. It is their home, the place where they feel safe, where they want to go to at the end of the day to go to bed. Yes, it is the house that Scott and i purchased when i was 22 and he was 25 and we said we would only be in there for 3 years. But i am so very thankful....

And inside this "security blanket" of ours, you will now find Owen putting anything and everything in the trash! hummmm, if we are ever missing anything, we go straight for the trash or the toy box. Thank goodness owen put my sunglasses, keys, and sippy cup in the small recycle trash can and not the real trash can.

Just a fun picture moment with dad...

...and with mom

And a nice saturday morning picking up sticks in the yard and burning them

So, this leads us to Saturday night. Emily and Beef had a bbq for everyone who is flying down to Florida for their wedding. Grandparents were nice to take the boys back home so Scott and I could enjoy time with friends. Beef really enjoyed the bbq....Lefty had to help him back into the house! Beef doesn't get drunk too often so this was definately a picture perfect moment.

Aaaahhhhhhh, yes, and passed out on the bed. Maybe he is just getting it out of his system now so he will behave himself at his own wedding :)

Sunday was the Royals last home game and Zack was pitching so we definately had to attend! Eating our lunch before heading into the game.

Tuesday morning....Ryan trying to find a place to play his leapster 2 without Owen getting to it. Guess he found a place.

Tuesday night, Ryan got ahold of the camera and caught a few pics of scott and i finishing dinner and chatting.

and a picture of owen.

And here is owen....acting way too old for his age!

I've been a total slacker.....

....have not updated for a while. maybe it's b/c nothing too exciting is going on. I have a sinus infection. Just called in to refill a script for an antibiotic. Gotta love it when the docs at work give you a script for an antibiotic and they give you 10 refills!!!! Just call cvs and refill whenever the next sinus infection comes back to visit!

I am starting to get into list making mode. Emily's beach wedding is about three weeks away. This coming weekend is my last weekend to run errands by myself. After that, Scott will be working the next two weekends to get quarter end close finished before we head out to FL. Some of the things on my list:

swimsuit shopping for me, purchase double umbrella stroller, boys need some lightweight pants, hit some dollar stores to buy little items that i can pull out of my bag every 30 minutes so owen will be entertained on the airplane, portable dvd carrying case, i need a pedicure, tan a few times before we leave.....the list could go on!

So, i won't bore you anymore. I am heading to bed. It's morning nap for Owen and ryan is playing with legos so that means naptime for Sara! then to the Y to work out and get my butt in gear. oh how i long for the days when i could just be lazy!!!!!!!

A successful session of our first swim lessons

Opps, i meant to download the videos before the pictures but you will still get the jist of this post. Ryan completed his 6 weeks of swim lessons. If you follow my blog, you would have seen the post after his first swim lesson....he totally failed. They told us he would do better in private lessons when there is one on one interaction. Scott and I felt he would do better if he saw other kids swimming in the water so we gave it a second chance. Boy, has Ryan come a long way in just 6 weeks. To those of you that have kids that are fish in water, you will think Ryan is barely doing anything but........from week 1 to week 6, it's a big improvement! The first class he cried half the session and would not let go of the instructors hands. Tonight, he was swimming with just his "backpack" and jumping in the water and going underwater without crying! We will miss the next session due to soccer but we will get back in the November session so we don't lose all our swimming skills!

I had purchased a Leapster 2 earlier this spring...it was on sale at Walmart and just couldn't pass it up. I wanted it for Ryan for our plane ride next month to FL. Was just going to give it to him but decided to wrap it up and tell him it was he present for doing such a good job at swim lessons. Let's just hope he doesn't expect gifts for all the other sessions that we enroll him in!!!

Ryan's present for doing such a good job at swim lessons!

These are two videos that I took of Ryan as Scott and I watched from the upper level observation room. We were not allowed to sit by the pool's edge....probably for the best. Ryan would have probably just tried to come running to us telling us he didn't want to swim. So all the talking I do on video was just me talking to myself.....a proud momma watching her first born! :)

owen's plaid shorts

Last week, we all went outside to play baseball. Owen felt the need to wear Ryan's helmet. Too bad Owen is only 20lbs. The helmet made him top heavy and he kept falling over!

Aaaahhhhhh, my favorite little outfit. Stylin in his brown polo shirt and plaid shorts!

But does anyone see a problem with this.....Owen is 13 months old. These shorts are size 3-6 months from Janie and Jack (love that store) and they still look like pants/high waters!!!

Mommy's second favorite pair of shorts! Is there a plaid theme?????

On Friday, Owen helped me clean the garage out. He thought he would be able to sweep...good try, though.

We ended the day with an afternoon play date at the park. This was really only the second time that Owen has been to the park since he has been walking. All I can say is that I am totally screwed!!!! The boy has no fear. Forget the days when I could meet up with people and chat while Ryan played with his friends. Now I am chasing Owen and making sure he doesn't fall off the slide that he climbs up!

Henry, Robb, George, and Ryan

Oh, yes, and our new trick. We just love to climb.

Spent the afternoon at Legend's. Mommy enjoyed some shopping...Ryan enjoyed the water!

And this evening, Owen enjoyed wearing my stethoscope. Guess he has seen me wear it a little too much.

Quiet house

Scott was off to columbia this weekend for an mu game and i worked so he had to take the boys back home to sedalia to my parents house. They left friday night. Put pj's on both kids and then loaded them up in the car at 8:30pm. Yes I wanted to cry as they left, but i didn't. Instead, I was still in mommy mode and I mopped kitchen floor and swept the carpet. I finally got smart and just crawled into bed and watched some tv. Work was crazy this weekend. Let's not even go there......but it was nice coming home saturday night to a quiet house and being able to read a magazine before heading to bed. Now, my reward is doing all of their laundry and unpacking all the bags. Why does this not seem fair????? Mom's never get a vacation.....EVER!

Emily's Bridal shower and bachelorette weekend

What a fun weekend....Em's bridal shower and bachelorette party. Friday was the day for Cari and I to run around and pick up food for the shower. Then, with the help Scott, mom, and my mother-in-law, it was time to clean house. No point in doing anything til the boys were in bed for the night. Think i finished cleaning the kitchen floors by 1 am. Then off to bed. The other hostesses were over at 9am so we could do all the food prep. Em's old roommate, Matt, came over with his cousin Natalie to help us out. Matt, we could not have done it without you!!! And the mimosas were awesome!!!

Then it was on to the bachelorette party Saturday night. For the record, everyone....I was out til 2am. Thank you, thank you. Yes, I am proud to say I made it that long. Never really been a big party girl...and definately not one after having kids. I am usually in bed by 10:30!

Our favorite "fast food"

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I know i have not been the greatest at updating the blog lately. Just a little busy! Had a good weekend, for the most part. Worked for 4 hours on Saturday. Gotta love picking up short, extra shifts. Love the extra money....to be put away and used for a rainy day, and love just working 4 hours. After work 12 hour shifts, these 4 hour shifts are nothing!

Came home and Scott began yard work while all the neighbor kids, 1 by 1, made their way to our house.

Scott left for the Chiefs preseason game while the boys and I went to Leawood park. Have never been to this park but had alot of fun! Of coarse, I forgot to bring my camera. Then it was off to figure out what was for dinner. I certainly wasn't cooking! Hummmm, McDonald's for Ryan. The toy right now is a Lego car and Ryan loves legos!!!

Owen and I had our favorite "fast food"......Mr Gyros!!!! Gyro sandwich and hummus with pita :) I think Owen almost enjoys it more than me!
Then it was back outside to play. Owen loves the little house. He loves to ring the doorbell and talk on the phone....along with opening/closing the little door. Hey, whatever keeps them happy.

Walk down memory lane..........
My two favorite pictures.....exactly one year ago today!
Scottie and Ryan getting ready to go to the Royals game.

And mommy and Owen preparing for some quiet time! Oh, how peaceful he looks. I
do remember those days....Owen slept ALL the time! My, what a difference a year makes.
Walking, eating real food, drinking from a sippy, only two naps a day, and doing whatever
big brother is doing.

(Owen, 2 1/2 weeks old)
